The major highlight of this trek is to see the sunrise from Poon Hill, 3210 m, an hour climb from Ghorepani, 2887 m. On this short expedition to Poon Hill, one can observe the entire mountain ranges of Annapurna Region, covered in red, orange, and pink shades of the sun at the sunset and sunrise, making it a truly magnificent view. After the revitalizing and awe-inspiring view of sunset and sunrise from Poon Hill, you descend steeply through forests and then the trail eases as you reach to Ghandruk (one of the favorite destination of internal tourists), a distinct village of Gurung ethnic group known for its traditional houses, great landscape, and rich culture. This village is the popular tourist destination that offers excellent close-up views of Annapurna South, Machhapuchare and Himchuli.
