Everest Base Camp Trek with Island Peak Climbing is a perfectly combined trip that offers an opportunity to experience trekking in the wilderness of the Himalayas and climbing one of the most beautiful peaks of the Khumbu region, Island Peak (6189m). The trek is an excellent opportunity to traverse the Khumbu region to be at the foot of the world’s highest mountain Everest (8818m) and also make a non-technical climb to the mesmerizing Island Peak (6189m) situated in the Imja valley.

The 20-day Everest Base Camp Trek with Island Peak Climbing is a challenging trek that is designed for the energetic and physically strong trekkers. To climb the Island Peak, it is not necessary to have advanced and experienced climbing skills. It is perfect for those trekkers or climbers who have the interest to experience challenging and thrilling adventure. The trek to Everest Base Camp offers the surreal view of world’s tallest mountain Mt. Everest (8848m) along with the gorgeous peaks of Lhotse (8414m), Pumori (7161m), Ama Dablam (6812m), Cho Oyu (8188m), and many others. The base camp also provides an amazing view of the Khumbu Glacier and the Ice-fall. The trail to base camp passes through the Sagarmatha National Park where trekkers may encounter different wildlife like musk deer, Danphe, snow leopard, Himalayan Thar, etc. Trekkers also come across beautiful glacial lakes and climb Kala Patthar viewpoint to see the amazing 360-degree view of different Himalayas. The trekking trail also passes through several Sherpa villages on a way where trekkers get an opportunity to experience Sherpa lifestyle and culture. The climb to Island Peak can be challenging due to the rocky ridge along the glacial moraine. Upon reaching the high point of Island Peak, trekkers are rewarded with the most amazing view of the massive Himalayan peaks that every climber dreams to conquer.

Pick up at Tribhuvan International Airport by our staff upon your arrival. Transfer to hotel in Kathmandu for an overnight stay.

We go to visit the UNESCO world heritage sites Kathmandu and Patan Durbar Squares, and Swayambhunath Temple. Later in the evening, we meet with our guide to discuss the trek. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.

We catch our early morning 40-minute scenic flight over the Himalayas to Lukla. Upon arrival at Lukla Airport, we begin our trek walking alongside the Dudh Koshi River, and passing by a few villages, we reach Phakding. Overnight at lodge in Phakding.

Continuing our trek alongside the Dudh Koshi River, we cross suspension bridge several times. We then enter the Sagarmatha National Park, where we may get a glimpse of different wild Himalayan animals before reaching Namche. Namche is one of the most famous Sherpa towns in Nepal and is also the commercial center of Khumbu region. Overnight at lodge in Namche Bazaar.

We take a rest day in Namche to get used to high altitude. We can also explore nearby Khumjung village visiting Khumjung Monastery, which displays a Yeti skull in its premises. Khumjung is also the largest Sherpa settlement in Khumbu. We then hike back to Namche via Hillary School in the twin village of Khunde. An amazing vista of Everest (8848m) and surrounding peaks are seen throughout the day. Overnight in Namche.

.We continue our trek towards Tengboche walking through the flat and forested trail full of colorful rhododendron, oak, and pine trees. Enjoying the stunning view of Everest (8848m), Ama Dablam (6856m), Lhotse (8414m), Thamserku (6623m), and Kangtega (6782m) in the background, we arrive in Tengboche, which is home to the largest monastery in Khumbu region. Overnight at lodge in Tengboche.

Today our trail descends through a forest for about half an hour before crossing a river. As we ascend higher, the landscape changes to the drier side. We continue our trek towards Pheriche passing through Sherpa village of Pangboche. Overnight at lodge in Pheriche

To adjust to the high altitude, we take a day off trekking for acclimatization. We can stroll around the beautiful village of Pheriche located at the side of the river. This is also an opportunity for us to learn about the Sherpa way of life and get an insight of Buddhism practiced in the Khumbu region. Overnight in Pheriche.

Our trail today is easy up to Dughla. We then ascend along the steep moraine of the Khumbu Glacier and pass through rocky and pebbly slopes which lead us to Chupki Lhara. We continue our trek towards the village of Lobuche located at the foot of massive Lobuche Peak (6145m). Overnight at lodge in Lobuche.

Leaving behind Lobuche, we trek towards Everest Base Camp walking along the Khumbu Glacier. The trail to base camp is challenging due to thin air, rocky dunes, moraines, and glacial streams. We also come across Gorakshep Lake on our way. Upon reaching the base camp, we can get the stunning view of Nuptse (7861m), Khumbutse (6636m), Everest (8848m), Pumori (7161m), and other snow-capped peaks of the Khumbu region. The base camp also offers an amazing view of Khumbu Icefall. We return back to Gorakshep for the overnight stay.

We take an early morning hike up to Kala Patthar (5550m) to watch the sunrise over the mountains in orange color. Upon reaching the top, we are rewarded with the magnificent panorama of different peaks like Everest (8848m), Nuptse (7861m), Pumori (7161m), Changtse (7543m), Lhotse (8414m), and many other peaks. After taking few pictures, we head back to Dingboche following the rocky path. Overnight stay in Dingboche.

Walking through the stone walled fields and alpine landscapes, we make our way up further to Bibre (4750m). Relishing the magnificent view of Island Peak (6189m), Ama Dablam (6856m), and Amphu Lapcha (5663m) in the background, we descend towards Chhukhung. Overnight at lodge.

Leaving behind Chhukhung, we head towards Island Peak Base Camp (4970m). We ascend through steep trail climbing towards the south then turning east to the main line of the valley. We continue our trek through the winding moraine path then walk through the crisscross path of Imja River that leads us to Island Peak Base Camp. Overnight in the camp.

We start our climb to the summit of Island Peak (6189m) early in the morning. Ascending through the rocky gully on a steep trail, we make our way up to a wide stone field. Climbing through few short rock steps, we reach the right side of the gully. We continue our climb crossing the ridges of glaciers and crevasses, and finally arrive at the high point of the peak. We will be rewarded with the extraordinary view of several Himalayan peaks including Lhotse (8414m), Everest (8848m), Makalu (8481m), and Ama Dablam (6856m) among others. After taking a few pictures and spending quality time at the top, we trek back to Chhukung for the overnight stay.

This day is usually used as a contingency day in the event of bad weather preventing a summit attempt. If the summit attempt the day before was successful, you will proceed to descend.

Leaving behind the Island Peak and Chhukung Valley, we trek back to Deboche. We pass through colorful Chortens, monasteries, Mani walls, and prayers flags. We also walk through the dense forest filled with oak and pine trees. Finally crossing the suspension bridge over Imja Khola, we reach Deboche. Overnight at lodge in Deboche.

Today we walk past several villages like Tengboche, Phunke Tenga, Sanasa, and Kyangjuma as we make our way to Namche Bazaar. Accompanied by the stunning landscapes and mountain peaks, we arrive in Namche for the overnight stay.

For our last day of the trek, we head towards Lukla passing several Sherpa villages on our way. We also walk through the forest of oaks and pines. Following the flow of Dudh Koshi River, we trek past many monasteries, Mani walls, Chortens, and prayer wheels before reaching Lukla. Overnight at lodge in Lukla.

We catch our early morning scenic flight to Kathmandu from Lukla. The 40-minute flight takes us over the mountains and later the hills one more time. Upon reaching Kathmandu airport, we transfer you back to your hotel. Later in the evening, we host a farewell dinner to celebrate the completion of the journey. Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.

Drop-off at Tribhuvan International Airport approximately 3 hours before your scheduled flight.
