Langtang Gosainkunda Trek is perfect for the trekkers who want to explore both nature and culture without having to travel far from the bustling Kathmandu city. From the traditional Tamang villages of Langtang valley to the pristine lake of Gosainkunda to the mesmerizing view of the snowy peaks of the Langtang Himal Range, Langtang Gosainkunda Trek seems to have it all. As one of the easiest treks in Nepal, this trek is perfect for everyone from experienced trekkers to novices.
The Langtang Gosainkunda Trek begins after a drive from Kathmandu to Sybrubensi. The trek follows the trails of Langtang River heading towards Langtang Himalayan Range and the Tibetan border. Passing through several small Tamang settlements, the trek takes you to the beautiful Langtang village, situated in the lap of Langtang Lirung (7227m). From Langtang village, the trek continues to Kyanjin Gompa, which is the most sacred monastery of the entire Langtang region. The trek then follows the trail through Lama Hotel, Thulo Syabru, and Shin Gompa to reach the final destination, Gosainkunda. Gosainkunda is a sacred lake for Hindu and Buddhist devotees, and it has a fascinating combination of cultural abundance and natural beauty.
In the festival called Janai Purnima, which falls during the month of August, hundreds and thousands of pilgrims visit this place to take a bath in the holy water of Gosainkunda. They believe taking a bath in the lake helps them be free of their sins. Climbing up and down the many hills on this trek, you will pass through stunning rhododendron and alpine forests with vast species of flora and fauna. You will witness diverse landscapes including radiant waterfalls, barren hillsides, evergreen forests, and many rivers and their tributaries.
