We’ll leave for our trekking journey after our early morning breakfast at Dole. Dole serves you a delicious breakfast that keeps you fueled for a few hours until you reach for tea stop by. The trail to Machhermo is full of bushy trails and summer settlements. Being a relatively shorter hike for the day, we’ll maintain a steady pace and move along while enjoying the magical beauty of the Himalayan region.

As we start to approach Machhermo, we’ll catch spectacular views of the mountain range. Stunning views of Cho Oyu and snowy landscapes are clearly visible. Our path then follows alongside the trails of Dudh Koshi River for about 2-3 hours, sightseeing local settlements and distant mountainous peaks. Then we reach Machhermo, where we’ll be resting overnight. Machhermo is a small village that is located in the northern direction of Dole and the southern direction of Gokyo Valley. It is located directly beneath the Ngozumpa glacier’s terminal moraine, which is the longest glacier in the Himalayas.

This place beholds incredible Himalayas views and has facilitated teahouses and lodges. Today, we’ll be enjoying the ambiance of the Macchermo village while also exploring local settlements and preparing for our incredible trek to Gokyo.

This day marks a glorious day as you’ll be trekking to Gokyo Valley to sightsee Gokyo lakes. You’ll follow a scenic path through Sherpa villages, monasteries, and stupas alongside the banks of the Dudh Koshi River before reaching the moraine of Ngozumpa glacier.

On the way, you’ll be treated to the epic scenes of the Khumbu Himalayas. The Gokyo Lakes comprise six lakes and lie in between the glacial moraine and Cho Oyu (the sixth tallest mountain in the world with a height of 8,188m). The largest of the six sizable freshwater lakes in the Gokyo Valley Lakes is Thonak Cho, which is followed by Gokyo Cho. Gokyo Cho is also known as Dudh Pokhari, while the third lake is known as Gyazumpa Cho, which is followed by Tanjung Cho, Longpongo, and Ngojumba Cho.
