On the first day, you will go to Dhulikhel from Kathmandu. From here, you will hike for 3 hours towards Namo Buddha, a site that is important for the Buddhist Community.  Again, after a 3- hour hike will take you to the beautiful Balthali Village.

On the second day, you will explore Balthali Village. This quick little escape from the busy city life will gift you the incredible view of the Himalayas. The lush forest to Mahabharat range from Pada Gaon is absolutely blissful.

This trek begins from Pokhara, the city of lakes.  On the first day, you will head to Phedi from Pokhara. After trekking for about 5 hours from Phedi, you reach Toalka where you will stay for the night.

On the second day, you will trek for about 4 hours until you reach the Gurung Village of Ghandruk. You will stay overnight at Ghandruk.

After the heavenly sunrise, you will climb down to Birenthati from Shyauli Bazar. On the way back, you can also explore the Gurung museum.

Then, you will finally reach Nayapul. It will take about 5 – 6 hours drive back to Pokhara from Nayapul.

There is also another route to Ghandruk Village. On the first day, you will trek from Pokhara to Ghandruk. On the second day, you will trek from Ghandruk to Pothana and the last day you will trek back to Pokhara.

However, the first one is easier.

Ghorepani Poonhill Trek

Ghorepani Poonhill Trek includes the route of Magar village and is possible within 3 days. Actually, this is a shortened version of 5 days trek. You can reach the elevation on 3210 m, Poon Hill, in 3 days.

PoonHill is a famous trekking destination for magnificent views of the sunrise over the Himalayas.

The journey begins from Pokhara. From Pokhara, you will drive to Nayapul. From Nayapul, the trek begins.

On the first day, you will reach Nayapul and then trek to Tikhedhunga where you will stay overnight. You will trek early morning after breakfast on the second day.

From Tikhedhunga you will trek to Ghorepani. You will walk past the Ulleri Village and witness the simplicity of Magar community. After reaching Ghorepani, you will stay there overnight.

The third day is where you will walk up to Poonhill. Here you get to see the beautiful panorama of mountains from Annapurna ranges and others like Mt, Dhaulagiri, Mt. Machhapuchre and Nilgiri. Then you will come back to Nayapul and drive back to Pokhara.

Along the journey, you will enjoy the warm hospitality of locals from the Gurung and Magar community.

Kalinchowk Trek

About 149 km away from Kathmandu, to the North Eastern side of Nepal, there is a religious short trek to the Kalinchowk Bhagwati Temple. Kalinchowk is in the Dolakha District of Nepal and the Bhagwati Mandir is on the elevation of 3790 m.

Kalinchowk Trek is slightly difficult than other treks. Regardless, this famous pilgrimage site is suitable for all age groups. The temple of Kalinchowk Bhagwati is atop a hill from Kuri Village.

On the first day, you head towards Kuri Village form Kathmandu. You can either take a 4-hour drive to Charikot and trek for about 5 – 6 hours to Kuri. Or, you can also drive straight to the Kuri Village which is 150 km away from Kathmandu.

You will stay overnight at Kuri Village. The next day, you will hike up to the hill to reach the Hindu pilgrimage site. The hike is only for about an hour, but it’s best if you start early so that you can enjoy the sunrise.

Atop the hill, you can see the views of mountain ranges of Langtang Himal, Ganesh Himal, Gauri Shanker, etc. The temple is of Hindu goddess Kali.

After coming back down you will stay overnight at Kuri. On the third and last day, you will drive back to Kathmandu. It attracts a lot of local tourists. It is a fascinating trek and can be easily done throughout the year.

Kathmandu Valley Trek
