Chandragiri Trek

Chandragiri Day trek is an easy trek that starts around 12 km from Thamel in Kathmandu. This is one of the most beautiful hiking trails that is new in the valley.

In this trek, you will pass through primeval forests and get stunning views of the Himalayas.

Nagarjuna Hill Trek

Nagarjuna trek is among ideal 1 day treks in Nepal for those who have an interest in some of the Buddhist associations with Nepal. The Nagarjuna hill lies outside the capital at 2128m in the Shivapuri Nagarjun National park.

This Hill is beautifully surrounded by jungle which is the home to the wild boars, deer, monkeys and thousands of species of birds.

The trek starts from the Fulbari gate of the park. And then you will slowly walk to the top of the hill which takes around 3 to 4 hrs. It is also an easy trek as the climb is gradual and rises only by around 700m above the valley floors.

The top of the hill is the location of a famous Buddhist monastery that is a pilgrimage site in Nepal for devout Buddhists. The hill, originally known as Jamacho was once the meditation site of an Indian Buddhist teacher Nagarjuna. He came to Nepal to teach Buddhism to the people.

The trek back to Phulbari gate takes around another 2 hours making it a total of 5 to 6 hours of trekking with a pleasant stop at the top in the monastery. During this trek, we recommend you take your own food or water, as there are no tea houses or restaurants within the national park area.

Ranikot Village Trek

One of the great one day treks is off the beaten Ranikot village trek. Kathmandu has several awesome viewpoints that provide an amazing view of the Kathmandu valley.

Thulakot trek is not just for the Himalayan views but also to experience the mountain life of the Nepalese people. The trek starts from Bijayapur after 30 minutes drive from Pokhara.

Peace Pagoda Trek

World Peace Pagoda lies on the top of a hill on the southern shore of Phewa lake of Pokhara. Besides being a magnificent sight in itself, it is a great point to view the spectacular views of the Annapurna range, lakes, and the Pokhara city.

This stupa is the symbol of peace where there is an installation of huge idols of Lord Buddha from Japan, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.

You will then stay there for some time. And then head down through another route that goes towards David’s fall.

Kahun Danda Trek

Kahun Danda is another enchanting hill north of Pokhara and takes about two and a half hours to reach there. Normally people from Pokhara call this place as a Dharahara of Pokhara. The place displays magical mountain views and also a complete view of the Pokhara valley.

Moreover, the sunrise view from Kahun Danda is better from the lower Sarangkot viewpoint. Very few people know about this place and hence it is very quiet and peaceful for day hiking.

The trail starts from near the army barrack at Phulbari across Mahendrapool and climbs slowly up a slope. The essential view from the top of the hill is the panoramic view of the Annapurna range along with the flat span of Pokhara valley.

Normally this is a one day trek. But you can make it 2 days if you have an interest in spending some time with the villagers. The Kahun Danda at 1520m has a ruined fort on the summit as well as view tower.

The mesmerizing change of colors after the sunrise on the Annapurna will definitely be a worthy experience on this trek.

Note: One of the advantages of the one-day treks in Nepal is that they are possible all year round. However, summers can be a little wet because of monsoon rains getting heavier in July and August. Spring and Autumn are the best seasons. And with the coldest day time temperature being as low as 18 degrees, cold is not really an issue in these one-day treks.
