Day 02: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar

With the early rays of the morning, you’ll join the trail to move ahead. As you get past Phakding, the Dudh Koshi River will guide you ahead. You’ll cross several suspension bridges today to get across the river. The serpentine trail will then lead to the woods of Sagarmatha National Park. The trail is not easy as before, plus the oxygen level is shallow around 5,000m altitude. From Lobuche, you’ll approach Everest Base Camp via the lateral moraine of the world’s highest glacier, Khumbu Glacier.

As you will be walking on the moraine part, the trail will be rough and difficult to walk upon. Crossing several steep parts, you’ll reach Gorak Shep. And after a short rest there, you’ll head out for moving closer to the base camp. As you have achieved Everest Base Camp already, now you will do a morning hike to Kala Patthar before ascending back. Kala Patthar is the best place to look at Mt Everest; you can get clear views of it from here. For that reason, you’ll do an ascend to Kala Patthar(5,555m) from Gorak Shep. It can take around 2 hours to ascend Kala Patthar from Gorak Shep. If possible, do the hike before sunrise because the sun rising looks so surreal from Kala Patthar.

After enjoying the mountains sufficiently, you will then start descending back to Gorak Shep. From there, you’ll leave for Pheriche village(4,250m), where you’ll spend the night. It will be easy peasy descending to Pheriche but make sure you watch the slippery stones. Overnight in Pheriche.

Day 08: Trek from Pheriche to Namche Bazaar
